gUYS I WANNA ask about what is the best way i can connect and share internet between 2 pc's using a hub?

PC 1 specs

windows xp sp1


PC 2 specs

windows xp sp2


a Hub (edimax w/ 8 ports)


the PC 2 is connected to the internet but my problem is the PC 1 because doesn't have any connection and connectivity to the net,..

the LAN connections seems to be having trouble too...

it doesnt recieve any packets,..

sent === 234 Recieve === 0

what s the problem ?


someone told me to use 3rd party software like wingate?
because of the problem of different OS Version?

If the internet connection is via a modem, turn on internet connection sharing.

The difference between SP1 and SP2 is not going to cause you problems as far as connecting, but you should not connect an SP1 system to the internet, it will be broken into within a few minutes. Upgrade to SP2.

Inside network physically would use straight through cables to the hub/switch. Check to make sure the switch has a link up to each PC.

PCs must have IP addresses, make one 192.168.1.1 (the one going to the internet) and the other 192.169.1.2 and it will have a default gateway of 192.168.1.1.
