It takes a special kind of person to couple a top-of-the-line heatsink and fan to a motherboard that costs less than the HSF. Cool

I'm using an SLK-700 on my second PC right now (Palomino 2100+), but it's got the 70x10mm fan from an Athlon64's stock cooler on it. Dad's PC has the SLK-800 and my brother's PC has the SLK-900. My Athlon64 X2 is cooled by an XP90. Thermalright FTW!

Even in death, that SLK-947U was doing an amazing job saving your CPU. I am amazed that you got it hot enough to melt the solder. Shocked

An important tin/lead solder is 63/37, called “eutectic,” meaning it goes directly from solid to liquid {with the same alloy ratio in both phases}. This alloy melts at 361°F (183°C), the lowest melting point of any tin-lead alloy. Other eutectic solders include 62.5% tin, 36.1% lead and 1.4% silver (354°F, 179°C)....
How'd you dig up that old thread?
