This one thing tells me who really is looking at fans across the country. Say you move away from your big league town. you never get the games on the radio let alone TV.
with the NHL you get to listen to the games for free with the local radio announcers. MLB not so. I really have a hard time following baseball knowing that everything is about cash flowing from my pocket to theirs

Them cheap bastards try and charge you to listen to the game?!?

I'm a Flames fan, and I live in the heart of Oil country - it's damn hard to hear anything about the Flames around here. I listen to just about every non-televised Flames game via the NHL website*.

I will give the NHL credit for recognizing that not all fans live in the same city as their favorite team.

* The free game broadcasts in no way lessen my hatred of Gary Bettmen and the NHL organization.
