Hmm, not sure, since I've got that working on both my home PC and my work laptop, and it works fine for me.

You did create a 640x480, 16 color bitmap, and saved it as C:\Windows\Boot.bmp, right?

For what it's worth, I originally read about this at this site, so maybe this can help you more.

Yes.

I deleted the "/noguiboot" part and the default MS screen shows. Still no 'modded' screen.

Yeah, it has to have both /bootlogo and /noguiboot to work regardless.

No clue why it's not working for you, as it did work for me on two different Win XP Pro machines. Weird.

I'm a webdevelopper and i've done some programming under windows. 12 straight years of geeking out. Certain windows hacks / customizations never really attracted me but lately i've been wanting to try this out. Funny thing is it took me a while to get it to work. Realised that windows was copying the real version of NTOSKRNL.EXE over my patched one right after..

I did have the boot.ini option setup but since this is a dual boot system, I figured, if I fuck it up, i'll just use the other OS to replace the files with the backup.

Anyways.. That darn NTOSKRNL.EXE was in 7 places including some cab files, which one (drivers.cab) was corrupted so I couldn't fully extract it to recreate it. So I let that one out.. Had to find every other one before it worked. loll. Took a while to figure out I had to do all that. With the boot.ini method, it would give me the default one.

Anyways, long story short, i'm ashamed it took me so long to figure it out but got it working. Cool stuff. If i think about i'll post it when I get back to work. ha.

Yes, and you don't even have to edit the kernel.

You can post your own boot logos in the boot logo gallery.
"ADMIN"s have the right to edit things. Try it yourself. I don't need to follow your image link, if you don't mind.

And guys, let's try to keep the admin job easy, post images into the right galleries.
