Ricky Williams need I say more
Quote:Several league sources said Monday night that the case against Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams, who reportedly violated the NFL's substance-abuse policy for a fourth time and who faces a possible one-year suspension, already is in the appeals process, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports. |

There are still a few good men out there... I think Peyton Manning is a great role model, as is Warrick Dunn, Marvin Harrison... to name a few... The sad thing is, though, only a few can be named out of several hundred, maybe even 1000 nfl players. |

The question should be...
"WHY do we have sports figures for role models ?"
Even if they don't do anything heinous...they are grown men being payed exhorbitant amounts to PLAY a GAME.
And to top it off...all football players are gay. So they are going to hell. |

I hear you. As an Astronomer, I find it frustrating that scientists are not thought of as role models - although NASA's astronauts do have a small following which is good. It doesn't help that the media focuses more on celebrities than on things that matter (don't get me started on the One campaign). I am still waiting for the media to report on the results of Huygens! I do have the results on my blog (http://astronomyonline.org/aoblog), really fascinating stuff that you'll probably never hear about on the news.
So let me be a role model. |

You would be a great role model except for that streak of negativity your posts have displayed of late. |

You are absolutely correct - I will no longer post negative comments. |

We equate media attention with prestiage and worthiness? |
