hehe, we used to do that in high school. drove the teachers nuts.

Come to think of it, we broke their security too. There was a key you hit when it was booting...esc or something when the windows screen first pops up..then use the windows shortcut keys....START+R and type explorer...hehe. drove them crazy too.

Sure thing - thats an easy one. Click START - RUN and type in control.exe followed by the CPL file you want to launch. Example:

control.exe main.cpl

if you used tweakui you wont be able to access the control panel since you have disabled it in tweakui your best bet is to run regedit then look for key:"nocontrolpanel" and delete it then you can access control panel as usual.

ok. has anyone else had any trouble with the the master-unlock.reg file? The Master-lock worked great! But the Unlock only brought back the screen properties tabs. My run, find, and shut down are all awol. I have also tried all of the individual enable.reg files for those mia start options to no avail... Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

did you reboot after trying them? I know that sounds dumb.... but if I remember correctly, you may have to reboot.

Either that ... or you just fell into my evil plan to lock everyone's machine down. Muhahaha! [Wink]

Actually it only sounds dumb if you already tried that. I of course had not, since I:
#1 Didn't care because it wasn't my box anyway..
#2 Forgot because now the option had been removed from my head too.Blush Smile
Thanks for responding, it worked!

I know I'm late, but I have another ADD-ON to the .bmp desktop trick. I dont know how it works, but I know I used to mess with my friends with the whole "NetBus" program which is now classified as a trojan. It used to let people remotely take complete control of your computer without anything showing up letting you know. Trick is... the program let you display a .bmp image on the users computer just like clicking "edit"..."view bitmap" in mspaint. The entire screen is taken up by it, regardless of what is behind it. Thing is, they couldnt get rid of it unless you pressed the button AGAIN on NetBus to remove it. Now if someone can figure a way to make THAT type of thing work at startup, your mission is complete. Total lockup, without damaging a thing. Just remember how you did it so you can remove it from dos or safemode.

A very simple trick for 95 and 98 is to use the included reboot.com command and place it in the startup folder.
Poof. The system will restart forever until you hold down the shift key when Windows starts.
Another good one is to write into the autoexec.bat file:
echo on: "press any key to format your c: drive"
Pause
They love that one.
