Sorry to hear about the problems at Berkley. Have things been running smoothly otherwise? I haven't had my attention in here for a while... |

actually for those that no longer BOINC now is a good time to return. Seems we are really low on production even at our best we are not going to hold our rankings very long. Get back to boinc ing like you know you like |

No joy again tonight in the stats department.
But I would like to make a comment about folding.
Do I come into the folding section and try and poach users?!?!
Have some pride.
continue to be the puppet of corprate greed. Regardless of the non-profit status of the Folding project, its Big Business that will in the end profit off of your donated computer tyme.
The same companies that Can Afford to buy their own enormous servers to crunch their equations. But shoot.. they have hordes of users who are willing to donate their computer tyme to this project.. Thanks.
Me, I'm going to continue to look up in the night sky and ask myself the big question. WHAT IF?
The folks at seti are enormously underfunded, and they have always been the bastard children of science. In other words.. My kind of people.
I take pride in donating my unused CPU cycles to these paragons of science. These scientific martyrs have earned my respect, and there is no pot of gold for anyone at the end of this rainbow, BUT it could be the most important project ever.
So go back to your Folding Forum, and pretend that you have some cajones. Search your soul and ask yourself how noble it is to pooch users from within your own community? I don't come over to the folding side and bad mouth your members? Search further abroad, Go talk to the froggies, or TPR. Go talk to un-aligned folders and see if you can't get some of them to come over. But all you are doing currently is making us both look bad.
shame
Shame on you |

Nuts!
I hope they get it all sorted out soon.. one would have hoped they were more prepaired for such a mass migration of users with the announcement of the ending of SetiClassic.
I read on the forum and lots of people bitch about how hard it is to install/configure... it's easy to setup and install and configure. It's just annoying that they have so many server issues... though...I am now downloading units again and hopefull in the next few days my cache of 30 units will upload finally...and i'll get a gold star |

Thanks for the effort FT.
Question:
Do they take into consideration newly expired units when they have downtime like this? I have ~30-40 units waiting that would be a shame if they expire.
I doubt it, but would be nice. |

I dont' think I bad mouthed your users... just offered a suggestion... and as for one I did seti for years before folding... what got me to switch... watching a great man deteriate from alzheimers and become a shell of the person he once was and finally die.
oh and you are welcome to come over to the folding forum...
and if you honestly were upset by my comment it wasn't intentional.. |
