I ran the Boston Marathon. I'll post pictures and stories when I have them. Given the whole cancer scare and lack of training, I ran my worst one yet. But, since I went into expecting to do that and prepared to do that, it was all right. I put the statistics on the first thread for those that are interested. |

So it was just a scare, and nothing more, right?
Hey at least you did it, whether or not you got a good time... it can serve as some training for your next one. Congrats! |

No idea yet. We haven't figured out what is wrong with me.
As for the time, I can now spend the next 5 months telling people I plan on cutting almost an hour off of my marathon time...(Goal for Chicago on October 9 is 2:50; I'd like to go under 3:00 and doubt I'll get under 2:45) |

Did you and Erin run together?
Gotta love those post-race massages...
Thanks for sharing! |

Erin and my sister ran the 10 mile race, which shared the first 8 miles or so before branching off. I passed Erin on my loop out when I was around mile 6 or so and she was at 4-5ish. I was already 4 minutes ahead of pace by then. She had already left my sister behind. |

I am now 14% towards each state. I ran the Vermont City Marathon yesterday. It was a lot of fun; I cruised in just over 3 hours with way less effort than any of my other 6 so far. I ran 10 minutes faster last fall with a much better distance base and some actual speedwork under my belt, but it beats the times from the first 5. I am fairly mobile today, which is nice.
The course was much tougher than the one last fall, but it was very spectator friendly. I only saw my fiance once during the race, but she got to see me go by 6 times. I wasn't sure how far I had to go because of the way the finish is laid out, though, which meant my sprint finish was only a few hundred yards rather than the half mile I had planned on.
The drummers were really cool. |

Number 8 is in the bag.
The crowds at the New York City marathon really disappointed me, but otherwise it was a great race and a lot of fun.
It was the first time I got to run with somebody. I paced a college friend through his first marathon, and took off from him with 2 miles to go. I think I passed about 2000 people in the last 6 miles, and at least 200-300 in the last mile or two.
It was even easier to run this race than it was to do Vermont City, and I ran over 10 minutes faster. I passed Lance Armstrong at around mile 6, and he looked like he was already hurting. I beat him by a little over a mile. |

Our guest speaker Ed Viesturs was in that marathon as well.
Why did the crowds disappoint you? To small of a turnout or ? |
