Was watching the local news while I am in Atlanta and they had a story on Warrick Dunn because he grew up in Louisiana and was donating $5,000 to disaster relief. He said all NFL players should donate $5,000 to disaster relief because most of them waste that kind of money on frivilous things all the time.

Warrick Dunn made $2,903,200 last year. $5,000 is about 0.17% of his 2004 salary. Whoop de fricken do!!!!

To his credit. He is housing most of his Louisiana family in his Atlanta home.

Yeah, that and he has put down payments and fully furnished houses for almost 50 single mothers over the last few years. I wouldn't diss his philanthropy.

Warrick Dunn has done HUGE amounts for the community. He's a really really humble, generous person. There should be more folks like him out there... There was an article in Esquire or some kind of magazine like that about him last year about how much he does since he raised his brothers and sisters, and wants to help people out so they don't have it as tough as he did growing up.

I just found it odd that the local news made a big deal about $5000 from a guy who makes 2.9 million a year. Up until my wife lost her job last year, we use to donate $500 a year to the United Way and then there is the other piddly crap that people ask to donate for (Veterans, Police, MDA......) The list could go on an on.

I agree that $5000 is virtually nothing, but like many have said before he has done a lot over time so dont' hold it against him now. Make a bigger deal out of the fact that the NFL itself (like the league not each team) only donated $1 million. Figure out how little THAT is in the grand scheme of things.
