Okay, here's the deal. I've got an older system 1.8 ghz p4 desktop system. Only 256 mb ram in it, but a , newer budget video card with TV out and a really old DVD drive. Running Windows XP Pro. What I am wanting to do with it is hook it up to my entertainment center and rip the DVD's that I own to the hard drive and use it like a video jukebox.

I was trying it out yesterday using Super DVD Ripper trial. I only ripped like first couple minutes because it was running really slow on the rip and I wanted to test everything out. Video seemed fine, but the audio would cut out a bit.

What I am wanting to know mainly is, what should I upgrade, and what to, to get this to work good and what is an easy to use software for doing this that works good? I'm pretty new to video editing, movie file stuff, etc. Very Happy

Well what are you using for a sound card?

It could be possible that the cpu is taxed and therefore the sound is cutting out. If you use a sound card opposed to onboard audio that might help.

Also I have noticed that sometimes a rip can be bad. Can you verify the files on another comp.

A little extra memory couldn't and wouldn't hurt either.

It doesn't seem right that on-board sound should be your problem, but you could try a decent sound card. It wouldn't hurt, other than your pocketbook.

I expect that it is more likely a problem with your IDE controller or some background task using up all of your memory. Are you certain that you've got IDE DMA set up properly?

I ended up using DVD Decryptor and flaskmpeg 0.60 (the beta 0.74 flaked out on me too much). Everything seemed to work good after that.

Now it just looks like I may need to get a larger hard drive soon Smile.

I love this Idea! This would be great for my Kids (No more scratched DVD's).

Can you give me a few more details, tips or direction?
