my question is this, right now i have the choice between 2 sticks of OCZ Pc 4000 Vx OR 2 1Gb Of PDP Patriot memory (w/red heat spreaders) since there is only a $15 difference between the the two brands per Stick! Which should i choose? i do alot of photoshop and which will be better for me? Please keep in mind that i want to keep my cas at 2 for gaming. Or maybe i should wait another 2 months and watch the prices go down even more and pick an audigy 2ZS platnium card W/ $50 mail in rebate right now @ the egg?

My specs:
Antec super lanboy w/430 PSU
DFI NF3 Gb ( don't know how much voltage this board can pump out for the VX Sticks, Booster?, also slappy on a vantec copper fan for the bridge, very cool in looks and to the touch, very hot with stock cooling, very hot!).
Currently 2 X 512mb 3700 HyperX (Cas 3, and they suck)
9800 pro 128 mb
120Gb maxtor sata
Plextor 8x Dvd/Cd burner
Windows XP Sp2
3700 1Mb cache w/ Zalman 7700 all copper!

Let me know what you guys would do, any and all information would be appreciated? Thanks Wink

I've never been a fan of OCZ memory since they got caught cheating on their memory specs/ratings... Sad SmileShocking SmileBlush Smile

Memory is at a real low price at the moment... Big Smile

It's up to you whether or not you wanna take a chance and see if they go a few dollars cheaper or not...but in the long run yer the one who's gotta take that gamble if you want to save a little bit of cash... Wink Smile

The old saying was that "Friends don't let friends buy OCZ." They may be better now, but I have avoided the brand since a bad experience several years ago.

If you want 1GB DIMMs, Newegg doesn't have a great selection.
Crucial Ballistix - No compromises budget-buster.
Corsair XMS - Good memory.
Patriot PEP LL - This is what I have.

For 512MB DIMMs, there are many choices.
Be careful in your selection. Some of the highly-touted RAM requires an insanely-high voltage to achieve its rated performance.

Will i took a chance on OCZ PC 4000 VX sticks (1Gb total), and all i can say is very nice! Photoshop loads in 3 seconds! i jack up my vdimm voltage all the way up to 3.1 volts ( thats all it will go) running memory on a 1:1 with 2-2-2-6 on a T1 With the FSB at 230. i need the booster so i can go higher keeping the sticks at 2-2-2-6 up to 250. obviously my HTT is 4x, but will have to drop it to 3X beyond 250. very happy with these sticks will post later when i get the booster and then post my results again. Laughing

well these sticks have been good for me and i have yet to jump to DDR2, but it is coming. i currently have some 939 running with some Denmarks. the question is no longer should i go with 512 vs 1024 but rather 1024 or 2048 and to that i say go with 2 gigs!!!!!!!!!

These are the sticks i am looking at right now.
