Anyone have an Asus A7V motherboard they dont want/need?
I rammed a screw driver through one Saturday swapping out CPU's ... so now I need to replace that MB. (It slipped off the HSF...oops)
Actually....if you have any decent MB's that take Athlon Thunderbirds to 1.4ghz would be nice
What's in your closet?
I have memory, cpu, hsf...so..just need a working m\b |

They make a special tool for that?! I should have been using a flat head screw driver instead of the phillips head was the biggest problem... |

A multi-bit screwdriver is perfect for the heat-sink latch; take the bit out of it and just slip the empty (6mm) bit-receiver socket down over the little latch finger, and there's virtually no chance of it slipping off. The empty socket is also just the right size for driving the hex-head screws commonly used for mounting the MB, adapter cards etc...
Too bad about your A7v; it's an oldie but a goodie. |

I also find needle nose pliers useful in *some* situations. Depends on the capacitor layout. |

On the only build I've done, I used a flathead screwdriver. Using the flatest side, not pushing down with the tip however. |

I remember how stressed I was the only time I ever mounted a HSF onto a socket A mobo. I'm glad that the Athlon64 HSFs can be done by hand. |

Same here, my first time... I was thinking, "do I just force it, or should it not be this hard to get on? Don't wanna punch a hole in the mobo..." |

Lets get some pictures of the screwed up mobo!!!
We all wanna see the damage.
I remember having a close call before, the screwdriver slipped maybe? All I can recall was I was praying I didn't break a trace or pop off some component, but all ended up being good, just a stressy moment. |

I won't have the system to do the rebuild until saturday.. I'll bring home the bramaged board after I get the new one up and running I'll take a picture of the hole.
this is the first mobo I ever destroyed putting on the HSF...and probably the last time I don't use a flat head screwdrive too |
