the method for XP is a bit different. The easiest way to change this in XP is to simply use bootskin or bootedit to apply your image to your startup screen.
otherwise these are the directions you are after:

Hi, I am unable to rotate the KERNEL01 .....KERNEL33 bootlogos I have put in WINNT/system 32. I have tried with LWDKernel - it doesn't work, so
I have placed the Kernrot.exe file in the startup folder (Target: "C:\KERNrot\kernrot.exe" '33') - but it doesn't rotate anything. If I click on the .exe file in the startup folder I get this error message: "runtime error 13 - type mismatch".
Can somebody help me ?

Sounds liek a VB error, just a small bit of googling makes me think you may need to have your computer set to English for it to work.

Thank you quijbe, I have verified in Internationational Options (Control Panel): the computer is set to accept instructions in english.
Can you suggest me some other cause for this "mismatch"?

Who is Phil? The Phil who created the Whinni-the-Pooh boot screen? I want to ask him if he can do a version for Win XP Home.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the program.

I am the administrator (so I have full access) and I tried to move the kernel01.exe from system32 dir to the desktop to see if it would do anything different. edit: Whoops forgot to mention this happens when I try to replace the bitmaps. They are the correct size and color palette... did it w/ photoshop. Even tried a blank .bmp to make sure.

"Access violation at address 00402791 in module 'Reshacker.exe'. Write of address 0186B000"

Any help would be appreciated. Smile

I went through the tutorial for changing the image on bootup (windows 2000), and when I turn on my computer I get to a point where it asks which image I would like to use.
Either option I choose, I go to another screen that says something like
"NTOSKRNL.EXE is corrupted or missing, please replace"

Anyway, now I can't access my computer at all, really...
if anyone can help me fix this PLEASE e-mail me!

i had the same problem. the problem is probably that you didn't check "compress (LRE)"

now for a problem of my own....

Quote:
When i try to make a custom screen, whenever i restart, it comes up really distorted (i just see random colors). Yes, i backed up NTOKRNL.EXE. Yes, the bitmap is compressed. Yes, it is 640 by 480. Yes, it is 16 colors. Yes, i put /kernel="X".exe. so what could possibly be wrong?
