Just unpack the [s]tarball[/s]rpm with cpio. Seem to work nicely with mp3 but i don't think they have something on xmms. But then, i also wonder why people would install winamp on windows and not just use mediaplayer.
Why not a tarball. If you are building beta after beta than an rpm is a lot easier to handle than a tar |

kde just unpacked it for me, asked for my root password and installed it. Can't get it to work though.
My sound in Linux does not yet match that of Windows. all 4 speakers work, but the front volume are too high and I'm getting distortion at any level. |

How does xmms handle the sound? Is it also distorted or does it sound right.
The reason Neuralfx talked about a tarball version is not ease of use for beginners. rpm is easier on a rpm based distri. although more difficult for deb based ones. But the fact that he probably doesn't have the root password. If it is a tar you could install it as a normal user but with rpm it is difficult. Besides that it has also to do with form. It is bad form to not give a tar. |

nah, i jus like tarball's better, call me crazy=) i think they are easier to deal with than an rpm, eh i just like them better, i dunno. and with rpm, they are made for specific distro's, and it appears they only have a rh rpm, eh ill probably dl it in a lil while, and tell how it goes ..

Bad form, good info. I do like to be polite.
Most times anyway. |
