Hello all,

just installed freeBSD 5.3 and am having trouble getting the X GUI working correctly. Followed the instructions on the site in the handbook. Pretty sure I have it configured correctly, but could be wrong. Using Xorg instead of XFree86. Not really sure if that makes a difference , but thats what the handbook instructions were. Got the default conf file made the addon's and moved it to the correct dir. Get out of root, into the day to day account and start x with startx. All I get is the grey screen with the black lines, you know the cross hatch pattern.

I have went into .xinitrc and tryed various window managers, but to no effect.

I'm frustrated as of right now, so Im going to go work on the networking. That should not take that long I hope Smile
