just got word -

we are getting a new server -
I'll update you on the specs if they ever release that info.

We are also getting hints towards new barcode software - for SUNRISE 2005.

And last but not least - our IT hero wants to switch over to IP which is fine -

but we have one printer that uses only appletalk - and one guy is really raising a stink about it.
They told ME to research it (cuz they don't trust the IT guy) - which is outright HILARIOUS in and of itself.

I havent even really looked into anything - but I know wackiness will ensue.

Hey Snookums...nice to see you around.

We are getting barcode software too...have to barcode about 400-500 different letters and forms. A three week project which they wanted to pull me and coworker to do...but of course all our other regular work had to be done too. Stupid 24 hour days.

Also got new librarian software...which they could not get to run...and after it was loaded...they could not get OLD software to work either...so they left. Sort of cool though cause it means I have an excuse to NOT do my librarian duties...more time for LBD.

O2 there are way's to run Appletalk over IP but only VERY old printers only support Appletalk, Appl dropped themselfs a few years ago. Of course your IT guy might not know about encapsulising appletalk and sending it over IP it's called IP tunneling...........Dwarfs do alot of tunnelling Wink

As soon as I get the stats I will let you know.
The printer is a linographic printer (makes negs)
and will get that to you too~

If I ever hear from these people.
