So in order to overclock it with a noticable performance increase, I'd have to get new RAM and a new heatsink/CPU fan?

Hmm... Starting to cost money.

What FSB would/should I use if I decided to do this? Do any of you have an overclocked 2500+ Barton? What FSB do you have it at?

What RAM do you have? If it's DDR400, then you're fine.

Not sure...

/me looks at mobo box...

Box for the mobo says "Dual DDR400" so I'm assuming that's what I have.

RAM and motherboard are two separate things. Just because the mobo is capable of running Dual DDR400 doesn't mean the RAM is 400. Chances are good, if you didn't specify 400 when you ordered, and you have a 2500XP (333 fsb), then you got DDR333 RAM.

Bah, I actually looked at the RAM and it's DDR333. Sad

You can always give it a shot. My Crucial PC2700 runs fine at 3200 speeds. Its at pretty relaxed timings with upped voltage, but its been doing it for nearly a year.

Keep in mind that doing this may actually fry hardware, so unless you're willing to buy new parts after you toast old ones, I wouldn't recommend doing anything too stupid.

My barton runs at an FSB of 200. I'm running 10x200 at less than stock voltage with a really quiet fan. Its the type of system where my hard drive seems awful loud.
