It hardly puts out any heat unlike a standard light bulb so it wouldn't be able to melt yer mouse pad. Wink SmileTongue Smile

Besides...you should order more than one. Big Smile I have 30 of those babies left to install into a mod fer some guitar gear.
3 more Line6 Floorboards...gotta make those indicators show up in sunlight as they used the cheap T1 red LEDs that hardly puts out any light... Wink SmileShocking Smile

Thats easy to do.

No...it's really not easy Razz

I've tried washing the wires with soap n crap, scraping things off but the solder would never stick with a 45watt soldering iron and rosin core solder Rolling Eyes

Seems like yer technique is a bit lacking. It takes a little experience with soldering to get it right. Wink Smile

Yer 45 watter and rosin core solder should do the trick. What method are you using to solder with? Confused

Washing the wires with soap and water is not recommended...just in case yer wondering. Wink Smile

Nope...the pink LED would be...pink and not red.

As far as the UV LEDs go...you really wouldn't see any real "light" coming out of it until you put something in front of the beam that would "react" (fluorescence) with the UV rays...like urine. Rolling Eyes

Are you tinning the solder iron tip and LED legs first?
Also need to have the iron up to temp.

Good idea. Just know that unless the mousepad glows well, it probably won't work. UV is not picked up well by Si based CCD's.

Nope. But go to newegg, they have them for almost free. I am rather hard on my peripherals, so that's where I get them.

In a lightwave, white is the presence of all light. So pink would be all light with a slightly higher intensity of red.

Make sure your solder tip is clean, no rust, dags, crud.
When it is up to temp melt some solder onto the tip. This helps in heat transfer.
Also tin the legs of the LED's before installing. Best to do this before clipping the legs to size so the solder tip doesn't get to close to the LED.
Have a damp sponge nearby to keep the tip clean.
If you get it all right soldering is easy as pie.
Try practicing on some old radios/TV or something or buy 1 of the DIY kits, they are good for starting on.
