Sorry to say but the article you refer to does not contain information or solution to my question.

Pierre... try using Xsetup, although, it didn't do a damm thing for me, it may help your issue with the color thingy.

By the way, the registry string you're looking for is:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors

Find the string value Background and change the current RGB color from what it is to anything from 0 0 0 to 255 255 255

Reboot.

Sorry again.

Changing the background color in HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors do not affect this one.

It only flashes for a fraction of a second between the bitmap loaded in HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper and the bitmaps you changed in logonui.exe

Regards

Hi, I have read all of your post about the boor screen logo. My problem was probably resolved in your post, but i don`t understand.

I have created an 640 x 480 16 colors bitmap in PSP, and have try to import Original too, and made some modification.
On ThemeXp.com ther`s lot of boot screen with a palette that is not the original. If I make a change to to palette, I never have the good color, it`s always de MS one. What`s the good way to proceed to make a fully custom boot screen with different color of the MS palette.

Thanks

Question, there's a win2k boot logo gallery. Anyone know where I can find winxp boot logos? I'm not into desigining graphics, would love to learn, but too lazy. I am however interested in changing my boot logo. If anyone wants to custom design me one, I'd greatly appreciate it. Smile) Center it around Nine Inch Nails. Thanks.

You seem to have it together with respect to the boot screen so I hope you can help me. I don't have a boot screen. My Dell 8200 running XP Pro (with two hard drives and a Matrox G450 dual head graphics card driving two monitors) boots with a black screen until the logon screen appears.

That started a few months ago. I don't know exactly when because I didn't think much about it - the system runs flawlessly otherwise. However, I recently tried to access "safe mode" at startup to tinker with some settings and nothing happened. I had to do a hard reboot. Obviously. if I do experience problems "safe mode" will not help me if I can't get to it. I also need to adjust some BIOS settings to accomodate Norton Ghost 2003, but the F2 (as well as the FCool key on startup doesn't work - a hard reboot is again required to restart.

I've checked my boot.ini file, tried various settings on my Matrox cards and changed drivers without success. Every article and post I've found explains how to tinker with the boot screen, but I can find nothing about how to get a boot screen and safe mode back.

Any suggestions or links you might offer to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
