I always wondered, are these types of programs bad for your processor? Since your processor is essentially running at 100% all the time. Is this bad for them?

I would expect that running your processor at full load all of the time is probably only bad for it to the extent that it gets hot. If you're keeping your processor reasonably cool, then there should be very little effect on chip life.

I think your mistaken, anglachel is a much better name to use. it will increase your processors preformance by at least 10%*

besides if you use the name bam then you just end up turning a bunch of smal near worthless units...

may not actually increase processor preformance

They really are made to withstand 100% usage so long as the cooling method is uninterrupted.

There used to be a 53 day uptime flaw in Win95 that crashed at that point, but, that's no longer relevant..or was it 47 days...

Processors age because the dopant will drift over time. So at a certain time so much dopent has drifted that some transistors wont work correct anymore and the cpu is borked. The higher the voltage difference and temperature the higher the drift speed and the faster the semiconductor will malfunction. But cpu are design to have a long lifetime. So instead of the designed 12 years or so of cpu lifetime you will only have say 9 years because the cpu is hotter because you overclocked it. But you will use that computer as doorstop anyway so why worry

No, should be just fine, as long as you keep it cool. Motherboards on the other hand, during my SETI contribution, I had several mainboards basically give up, blowing out the caps that support the DC plane (think the big caps around the CPU socket). 2 Soyo's, 2 Gigabytes, and one FIC failed. My Intel, ABIT, and MSI boards made it through just fine... as did the secondary farm which was mostly older Compaq and Dell PC's
