I'm running the hucksters, or more appropriately not running the hucksters, I haven't made any changes since the draft. Thought I'd have more time for this when I started than I've ended up having.

I'm kind of tempted to let it run, though, now. Kind of a science expirament.

And how back from the abyss know as life, your favorite....

The Weekly Report

Hey all, sorry for being sloppy the past few weeks, damn that life for getting int he way. Lets see what the standings are:

  1. up chukers 80-37-15 .663 -
  2. Punkytown Hucksters 79-37-16 .659 0.5
  3. Therapists 74-47-11 .602 8
  4. Chucktown Nat-attack 70-44-18 .598 8.5
  5. Southsiders 72-50-10 .583 10.5
  6. The Que Berts 65-50-17 .557 14
  7. Roxboro Rejects 54-61-17 .473 25
  8. command&conquer 47-73-12 .402 34.5
  9. anubis' minions 44-73-15 .390 36
  10. Belleville Rednecks 42-74-16 .379 37.5
  11. Tyme Bandits 40-79-13 .352 41
  12. K-town Konvicts 39-81-12 .341 42.5

As you can see we're starting to get some seperation between the have adn have-not's, with the upchuckers and the hucksters starting to pull away from the field. Actually it seems that the less changes that you make, the better, as five of the top six teams are stingy with their roster moves. Lets have a looks at the series from last week.

The Week that was

up chuckers 20 vs Belleville Rednecks 1

All iv'e got to say is what the hell happened?! The up chuckers hit the ground running and never looked back, helped by the fact that the rednecks must have partied too much from their previous week's series win (their first actually) and landed flat on their face. This embarrassment helped to propel the upchuckers into first with a vengence.

The Que Berts 16 vs anubis minions 4

Another lopsided victory this week (what is it with blowouts), the que berts decided being on the winning side of a blowout is the place to be. The minions on the other man, are just getting no love, after losing to the rednecks the week before, the minions are havign serious issues. So much so tht thy're offering to trade tow of their stars to light a fire unde their team.

The Chucktown Nat-attack 11 vs the Southsiders 9

Well the Nat-Attack are consistent i'll give them that. Beating the therapists last week 11-9 they give teh southsiders a harder time this week, dispatching them by the same score. The southsiders are in a heck of a ahrd road trip, as their last two opponets were front runners, and this week wont be any easier.

The Puckytown Hucksters 15 vs command&conquer 7

the hucksters are on a roll, and making a good case as one of the most consistent teams this year as they pull off yet another series win, this time against the c&c, which had jsut gotton off a heartbreaker of a loss agaisnt teh upchuckers.

Roxboro Rejects 14 vs Tyme Bandits 5

Guess last weeks upset loss to the Konvicts didnt sit too well with the Rejects, as they blasted the Bandits (they jsut cannot get any love this year) and are the only team in the bottom six that coudl make a move to the top six, being only 9 games behind the Que Berts, which are up agaisnt the upchuckers this week, not a good sign for them.

Therapists 17 vs the K-Town Konvicts 4

The Konvicts must be following the Redneck playbook as of late, as both teams pulled off some upsets teh previosu week to get their first series win, then crashed to earth last week. The therapists, trying to get back their first place position that they had at the beginning of the year, will look to keep the momentum from this lopsided win going to their series with the Southsiders, which will prove a wee bit mroe difficult.

The Week that will Be

Belleville Rednecks 7 vs Puckytown Hucksters 14

The hucksters, on a roll will continue their quest for #1 as they run into the rednecks, which after getting rightly embarassed, will be running into another hot team. Dont look fo the rednecks to be climbing up the ladder soon.

Que Berts 8 vs up chuckers 11

after their shelacking fo the rednecks, some may be wondering why i'm calling this one close? well that was a freak incident, the upchuckers were playing against a team in a serious slump, and the que berts are hot and looking to climb up the ladder. Thats' why they'll give the upchuckers will get a run of the money.

Nat-Attack 15 vs anubis minions 6

the minions jsut cant seem to get any love, in the past three weeks, they've been upset by an also-ran, hammered by teh Que-berts, and are agaisnt another front-runner, which hasnt lost in the pst two weeks. Look for the Nat-Attack to make it three as the Nat-Attack will find teh minions less competitions then their previous foes.

Therapists 9 vs Southsiders 10

These teams seems to have issues gettign a winning streak going. One week they're dominating, the next they're havign issues getting started. This will be a tough call but i'm going to have to go with the Southsiders on this one, as they're recent successes have come agaisnt front running teams, while the therapists have had issues. Of ocurse this series coudl serisouly go anyway.

Roxboro rejects 11 vs command&conquer 9

The erjects seem to be on a tear, and dont look for the C&C to be able to stop them, as they look liek they're running on fumes. Look for the C&C to be able to recharge against a less challanging foe, but in the end, sheer momentum will win this series, and the Rejects have it.

Tyme Bandits 8 vs Konvicts 14

In what coudl be billed as the battle for last place, these two teams have mirrored themselves for most of the season. However, with the recent upset of rejects by teh Konvicts, I feel that coudl be an indicator of this team rizing to the occassion. Bet on the winner of this series makign it to 10th, or even 9th.

Well that's the way that I see it, now on with the games!

  11. Tyme Bandits 40-79-13 .352 41
  12. K-town Konvicts 39-81-12 .341 42.5

Gainers & Slackers:

Southsiders +7.5
anubis minions +6
K-Town Konvicts +4
The Que Berts +2
command&conquer +2
Belleville Rednecks +1.5
PuckyTown Hucksters +0.5

up chuckers --
Roxboro Rejects --
Tyme Bandits -2
Chucktown Nat-Attack -4
Therapists -6.5

I checked this list three times, there shoudl be six up and six down, yet they'res not. Weird. Anyways, props to the southsiders for obtaining the first top gainer award! *applause* They got the award after a masterful (or if you were on the therapists team, brutal) performance this week, beating the therapists 17-2.

The ingury report:

Belleville Rednecks(4): R. Sexson, D. Erstad, K. Wood, M. Prior
The Que Berts(7): C. Koskie, T. Lee, T. Nixon, M. Ellis, B. Kim, B. Donnelly, A. Leiter
Chucktown Nat-Attack(2): G. Anderson, F. Vina
Therapists(5): M. Giles, D. Roberts, P. WIlson, J. Reyes, N. Garciaparra
Southsiders(1): R. Nen
anubis minions(2): D. Young, A. Gonzalez
up chuckers(1): B. Wagner
punkytown Hucksters(5): G. Myers, T. Glaus, S. Sosa, C. Woodward, M. Mantei
roxboro rejects(4): P. Polanco, M. Grudzielanek, L. Walker, R. Vazquez
tyme bandits(3): R. Alomar, T. Salmon, W. Helms
c&c(3): J. Giambi, N. Johnson, D. Wells
K-Town Konvicts(3): S. Stewart, T. Graffanino, T. Spooneybarger

SO far the most successful teams in the league seem to have the least inguries. No surprise there. I have noticed that some teaams either ahvent ahd anyone staffing them or they jsut have been busy, since soem teams still have palyers on the DL taking up they're non-bench positions. Not good for the stats.

Sent to the minors/released:

up chuckers: B. Hart
roxboro rejects: R. Mondesi

No big news here, Mondesi looks like he's lookign for a new home after wearing out his welcoem in Pittsburgh. Hrt I have no idea whats up there, I dotn think he's coming back till September.

Trade Offers

anubis minions:
Carlos Delgado, 1B
Shawn Green, OF

Chucktown Nat-Attack:
Manny Ramirez, OF

Well jsut when i though the Hucksters and teh up chuckers were goign to run away with this, teh southsiders decided they wanted to join the party and roared back to within two games. The Queberts, Nat-Attack, and the thereapists are one good series away from geting abck in it. The rest, well....it'll have to be a consistant effort.

Lets have a looks at the series from last week.

The Week that was

Predicted Finish: Belleville Rednecks 7 vs PuckyTown Hucksters 14
Actual Finish: Belleville Rednecks 11 vs Puckytown Hucksters 10

This series if it had gone another day woudl have ended up how I predicted. The Hucksters, seeing teh upchuckers were having issues, steamed ahead from a far deficiet (they were behind 16-4 in the middle of the week) to almsot take teh win. The Rednecks, even witht he win, dont make any headway as the teams in front were abotu to get enough wins to keep them at bay.

Predicted Finish: Que Berts 8 vs up chuckers 11
Actual Finish: Que Berts 12 vs up chuckers 10

Another series that looked like a blowout and wasnt, the up chuckers came back from a twelve point deficeit to almost take the series. However as predicted, the upchuckers hada harder go at it with the que berts, which are slowly providing spectics wrong aas they try to climb the ladder.

Predicted Finish: Nat-Attack 15 vs anubis minions 6
Actual Finish: Anubis Minions 14 vs Chucktown Nat-attack 4

Well I woudl have been right if I had reveresed teh scores. The minions must have said enough is enough and channelled al their anger at teh Nat-Attack, which suffered their first series lost in weeks, and their first blowout.

Predicted Finish: Southsiders 10 vs Therapists 9
Actual Finish: Southsiders 17 vs therapists 2

Well I said this series coudl go either way, and it did, all for the southsiders. Looks like the wiining streaks continue to evade teh therapists as teh southsiders took advantage fo close series by teh front runners and are now in teh running for first place.

Predicted Finish: Roxboro Rejects 11 vs C&C 9
Actual Finish: C&C 11 vs Roxboro Rejects 9

Now if only we coudl reverse teh scores i'd be rigth on the money. Looks like the C&C had they're number this week as they put their losing ways to a screaching halt. the rejects just seem to be havign issues getting some consistency going, which isnt helped by having four of their starters ingured.

Predicted Finish: Konvicts 14 vs Tyme Bandits 8
Actual Finish: Konvicts 12 vs Tyme Bandits 6

Well the konvicts seem to be on a tear, with their second series win in a row, they finalyl made it out of last place, unfortuantly for them, they're not advancing much as most fo the teams in front had wins or close series. AS for the bandits they jsut cant seem to get any love as they're back in last.

The Week that will Be

Belleville Rednecks 12 vs Roxboro Rednecks 9

My Early Season Prediction: Rednecks are in last by Week 8

Well you're wrong with that prediction my friend (though not by much), and the good luck wont be continuing for the Rejects this week. With this plethora of inguries in the hitting column, look for the red hot rednecks to bring their bats and clobber the rejects this week to their first wining streak this season Smile BTW, can you tell This is the series that i've been looking foreward to for weeks now.

Que Berts 13 vs Hucksters 9

I feel a change in the air, as this series may bring it. The que Berts have been winning even though they have the most inguries in the league (figure that one out). Look for they're winning ways to continue as teh Hucksters, fresh off an upset loss to the rednecks, will suffer for the first place curse and fall in the standings.

up chuckers 12 vs Nat-attack 8

look for the up chuckers to reverse the first place curse, and use the late momenteum to get back in the win column against the nat-attack, which were horribly upset by teh minions last week and barely squeezed by teh red hot southsiders.

anubis minions 11 vs therapists 9

i swear teh therapists make it very difficult to call a winner. one week they're decimanting, the next they're getting there ass hadned to them. this week it'll be close but to no avail as teh minions have had better luck agaisnt tough opponets as of late thant eh rapists have. look for the minions to squeak past teh rednecks to try and escape the bottom six.

southsiders 17 vs konvicts 3

the southsiders couldnt have asked for a better matchup to clam first place. the konvicts, while now havign some luck against teh lwoer echelons of the league, have been blown away by the leaders of the pack. This week will be no exception as the southsiders will be heading for 1st, adn teh konvicts will be heading for last.

c&c 14 vs tyme bandits 6

well i'd liek to to say this will be close but I jsut cant do it. the bandits have been getting no love the last two weeks, and look for the c&c to keep the trend alive as tehy'l find teh bandits easier to dispatch then teh rejects and teh hucksters.

Well thats' the way I saw the league this weeek. Hope you enjoyed the new columns. Also i'm going to post a want list on the weekly report for anyone that wants to post possible trade offers or a want list aka (you want to trade your first basemen or you need a SS, inqire within) so jsut msg me before monday afternoon and I can add them on, or if you see somethign on here that you like, jsut msg the maanger of that tteam and hammer out a deal Smile

Laterz!

Wow Tuesday is not a godo day to be a baseball player! may seems to be the time when everyone is trying to seperate teh wheat from teh chaff. Unfortuenatly there's not much wheat left from what I saw in teh available pool of players Sad.

Laterz!

hehehe good to see i'm not the only person that was looking foreward to this week. And i just checked the stats this morning, absolutely brutal! 15-2 for the Nat-Attack! You're making me look bad Smile

Although 14-4 for the rednecks, woohoo! Very Happy

Well we've got history this week. First let's welcome the first 100 game winners, the Punkytown Hucksters and the Southsiders! They're making sure the rest of us are having a tough time getting back in the race (damn overachieving *content edited for younger viewers*), with the upchuckers right at that doorstep. On the flip side, we have four teams in line to be the first to lose 100 games, with the Konvicts and the Bandits tryign they're hardest to avoid that "honour" Smile. Another first this week is our first to not be affected by the "winners curse", the Punkytown Hucksters!
In our mover and shaker catagory, we've foudn that its' not a good week when the leading team gets the win, as only four teams gained any ground, and none of them will be givign the Hucksters any sleepless nights anytime soon.

The ingury report:

Belleville Rednecks(3): D. Erstad, K. Wood, M. Prior
The Que Berts(6): C. Koskie, T. Lee, T. Nixon, M. Ellis, B. Donnelly, A. Leiter
Chucktown Nat-Attack(1): G. Anderson
Therapists(5): M. Giles, D. Roberts, P. WIlson, J. Reyes, N. Garciaparra
Southsiders(3): R. Nen, J. Backett, J. Peavy
anubis minions(2): D. Young, A. Gonzalez, H. Ramirez
up chuckers(4): O. Hudson, B. Mueller, R. Kelsko, B. Wagner
punkytown Hucksters(5): G. Myers, T. Glaus, S. Sosa, C. Woodward, M. Mantei
roxboro rejects(5): P. Polanco, M. Grudzielanek, L. Walker, R. Vazquez, V. Padilla
tyme bandits(3): R. Alomar, J. Gonzales, T. Salmon, W. Helms
c&c(1): D. Wells
K-Town Konvicts(3): S. Stewart, C. Everett, T. Spooneybarger

Wow this week has had a rash of inguries, wich only the c&c getting players back (the rednecks and nat-attack released they're limping lengends). Was there a full moon or soemthing?

Sent to the minors/released:

The Que Berts: B. Kim

Looks like Mr. Kim isnt goign to be around for a while. H'es gone back to Korea to get psychial, and when he gets back, it might be a bit before he gets back to the big leagues.

Well I know that a few peopel read my report last week, because there was a serious housecleaning this week. Never seen so many transactions in one week before. However as I'm sure many of you know, they'res slim pickings out there in the Free Agent section of the store.

Trade Offers

anubis minions:
Carlos Delgado, 1B
Shawn Green, OF

Chucktown Nat-Attack:
Manny Ramirez, OF

Belleville Rednecks:
looking for well hitting everyday infielder

Looks like the Hucksters are here to stay for a bit. However they must be getting kinda nervous with the Southsiders coming up on their rearview mirror like the highway patrol and the upchuckers not wanting to slip into that good night. Looks like a good race for quite a few weeks to come Smile

Lets have a looks at the series from last week.

The Week that was

Predicted Finish: Belleville Rednecks 12 vs Roxboro Rejects 9
Actual Finish: Belleville Rednecks 12 vs Roxboro Rejects 7

Well this was as close to an upset as the rejects ahve had all year, and if it was for a weekened comeback, it woudl have been a riot for the rednecks, as they get their secodn series win in a row. However it was a costly victory as they learned their star home run hitter is gone for the year. Even so, I"m glad that it turned out the way it did Very Happy

Predicted Finish: Que Berts 13 vs Punkytown Hucksters 9
Actual Finish: Que Berts 8 vs Punkytown Hucksters 11

Well I didnt see this coming. The Que Berts ran out of gas as teh Hucksters didnt beleive that curse stuff (red sox fans take note) and held onto first place.

Predicted Finish: up chuckers 12 vs Nat-attack 8
Actual Finish: Nat-Attack 11 vs upchuckers 7

Well I woudl have been right if I had reveresed teh scores. The upchuckers are getting no love lately, yet they're stayin in the hunt for the lead, figure that one out? As for the Nat-Attack, it looks like they're trying to get their secodn wind to get back in the hunt.

Predicted Finish: anubis minions 11 vs therapists 9
Actual Finish: anubis minions 12 vs therapists 9

Well the therapists are in one heck of a slump especialyl agaisnt the low end of the divisions, and because of this, they've reached they're lowest position yet. As for the minions they're a hair away from taking the "lead" of the bottom six teams of the division

Predicted Finish: southsiders 17 vs konvicts 3
Actual Finish: Southsiders 11 vs konvicts 8

I think the konvicts are getting tired of losing by huge margins, as they gave the soutshiders a run for their money. This probably didnt go to the southsiders plan as they woudl have taken the lead easily witht eh score that was predicted.

Predicted Finish: c&c 14 vs tyme bandits 6
Actual Finish: bandits 13 vs c&c 5

This was our upset of the week, as the c&c's hitting fell flat on their faces and were almost shutout of all hitting catagories. With this, the bandits were able to escape outof the basement (I gues they didnt like the view) and were two games back from getting to 10th (a position that has eluded the bandits for quite some time).

The Week that will Be

Belleville Rednecks 12 vs Bandits 8

Well i'd like to call this closer, and if the bandits hitting keeps goign the way it did agaisnt the c&c it will be, but with the rednecks pulling off upses for the past week agaisnt tougher foes, I'm going to have to side with them. However, if the rednecks hittign falls flat, the bandits may squeak out a surprise as right now they have teh superior pitching staff (lucky for them they're not meeting the rednecks next week, when Prior and Wood get off the DL)

Roxboro Rejects 11 vs The Que Berts 10

This one is goign to be close. Both teams are sick of being on the losing end, and both teams are havign issues (the rejects in a slump, the que berts have half their team on the DL). look for the healther team to prevail, mianly because of the law of numbers, and also because they're probbly peeved they lost to the rednecks (their owner cant be too happy abotu that Wink )

Punkytown Hucksters 11 vs Chucktown Nat-Attack 8

Another close series, both teams have had they're share of upsets lately (vs the Rednecks and teh minions respectively) and are so evenly matched. So to decide i'm going to have to go with how lucky each team as been, which in this case, the Hucksters get the nod.

up chuckers 13 vs therapists 8

both of these temas are in a serious slump over teh past two weeks and needed a break, unofrtunaly for the therapists, it's the up chcukers gettign the break. look for some changes to be made if the therapists cant shake this slide.

southsiders 11 vs minions 9

If this was two weeks ago I woudl have given a wider spread on the southsiders winning. However this si now, not then. The minions are the surprise team the last two weeks, having upset two front runners, and pulling a great imrpession of the Calgary flames. Look for the miniosn to cool off a bit this week as the southsiders are too hungry for that lead.

Knovicts 10 vs c&c 9

normally I woudl be predictign a blowout here. However, the c&c have been in a tailspin for quite some time, and the konvicts surprise on the southsiders (one im sure they werent too thrilled over) shoudl help to propel the konvicts out of the celler again.

Well thats' the way I saw the league this week, catch ya laterz!
