I am curious about Linux as I am sure others are. What is it about the os that makes you want to run it along with Win2K or Win98 or whatever? I have had Red Hat 6.0 with no luck getting it to install. Well i got it to install but it would not let me make a bootdisk and i gave up after 3 days of screwin with it. (Artstar = Dunnosquat) I also have an ISO of Mandrake 7.0 that I have not burned or extracted. I have done some reading on it and it is very confusing. I do know how to do command line things like Dos but the /HDA/DEV stuff is like foreign. I just about trashed a drive because of it. Is there much software to run with it? Just want to know some of your thoughts on this matter.

Dunnosquatt is my name,
tryin to figure out this shi* is my game.

I tried LINUX ... hard drive puked twice and the floppy ended up only reading LINUX floppies ... bought a new floppy and surrendered ... now I read LINUX doesn't like overclocking ... at least I'm able to use the LINUX Q3A CD we have with WIN98 ....

I'd like to see a newbies guide too. I'm a big windows geek, to lazy to fool with Linux. I have Idiots guide to Linux, and have taken some Unix classes. I tried installing it on one of my work PC's (IBM 300 GL) and was able to get it up and runnig. I was fine with the command line but could never get KDE or Gnome to work in anything but basic resolution. There were no drivers for S3 video card (damn IBM's). So I finally gave up. Maybe someday. First I need an NT server at home.

I may have some good links on my laptop. It's off now I'll check tomorrow.
