ARD is nice.. but i'm annoyed that it will only work on the same subnet. when you manage 6 or 7 subnets or even more it becomes pretty pointless..

Having boys seems to be easier.
That said, said boys seem to be good about asking about sites they don't know about. Dad's ire is legendary.

12th and 10th birthdays are imminent. 12th one he's doing normal type development so I think I can trust him. 10 yo is Aspergers and he's not going after interaction on the internet anyway, so I think he's ok too. My problem with him is appropriate websites. He's got a knack for finding sons of Newgrounds that have all sorts of funny for adults, but probably not what a 10 year old should see.

So I don't want to filter them, and they've been great as far as their etiquette, but hell and thunderation, I don't want to be the Dad from Hell and cause problems anon.

They don't really seem that keen on the idea either.

So far so good then, I guess. They don't go places I don't want them to go, and the places they want to go, I can deal with.....
for now. I guess.

You seem to not understand - it isn't my daughters that I am keeping an eye on -

it's the folks contacting them~

I let plenty go to the wayside in honor of their autonomy -
but in the end
*I* am the one responsible for her safety.

i DO monitor web pages...
because there is a LOT of crap inappropriate for the age ranges...
that people are more than happy to post in public forums~
even those meant for pre teens and teens -
or should I say
ESPECIALLY those...

I feel I cant do much better than I have -
and I DO keep those non judgemental lines of communication open.

So far.
So good.

Oh - and I never stuck a flower in the barrel of a gun.
In fact - I would as much put you in the ground in 15 pieces if you so much as flirt with my 11 or 12 year old if you are over the age of 14.
