New quake3 patch does not work with Mandrake 8!!

For some odd reason after installing the latest linux quake3 patch, 1.29h, quake 3 refuses to startup. It worked fine before the patch. I'm using the latest Nvidia 1251 linux drivers. I installed the linux quak3 patch with this command "sh linuxq3apoint-1.29h-beta.x86.run" and the patch installed without errors. But the game does not start after installation. what gives??

I installed the latest Nvidia kernel and GLX drivers 1251 following the instructions posted from LWD.

Anyone having problem running quake3 with the latest patch on Mandrake 8??

I'm sorry, but I don't understand. How do I look inside if quake3 doesn't even start?? I'm a newbie sorry!!
