So this web cam miraculously appeared on my doorstep. I thought Rov'r went and bought something without me knowing and i was a little concerned -

Then Rov'R thought O2 JR was up to no good -

Then I put 2 + 2 together.

Logitech's
QuickCam
Pro3000

is NOT compatible with Panther
Crying or Very sad

But this has inspired Rov'R to actually HOOK IT UP!
(After along lecture about showing body parts - see - you folks have NO IDEA what you have put into my hands)

So like a kid saying "No I wont do that - I wont do that either - no I wont show them that"

He has been researching work arounds.
He is very geeked and wants to "figure it out" all on his own.

They called me, as they were out of stock of the 4000 but had 1 left of the 3000 that I went ahead and bought and sent (apparenlty).
They use the same drivers, which logitech doesnt have any for Panther currently so she would have had the same incompatibilty problem, However the 3000 is listed under supported hardware here, while the 4000 is not, so we may have gotten the best option afterall.
