OK, I have a hub/router, but I can't get it to work with my DSL.......

I have dial-up DSL, so I go to the modem, then to the wall, I need to place the router, obviously, between the comp and modem....... but when I do that and I try to dial in, it can't connect....... Everything's the same except for the router, and I've double-checked everything in the manuel......

It's a SOHOware NBG800

Anybody got any clue what could be up? I'm not really experienced with routers, so any help/advice would be appreciated.... Very Happy

dial up dsl? What is that?

is it PPPoE?

or do you mean you have a log on?

or you have an High speed DSL downstream and your upstream is via a dial up modem?

Who is your provider and what model of DSL router do you have?

Sorry to ask so many questions but I don't really have enough info.

Yes, it's PPPoE, and we basically have to "dial-up" to log-in to access the 'net.... no, not thru the modem (thank goodness)..... we're provided by SBC Yahoo! DSL, and the router's by SOHOware, model: NBG800

Wow. Dialup DSL. Is that provided thru InnerCite for $25 a month for about 168 kb up/downstream?

And...Did you grab all your firmware upgrades Smile

quibes got it. you have to tell the router what its supposed to do otherwise it just sits there. cable modems dont soign on they are just on dsl has to sign in every time you connect.

In essence your router is becoming your pc for you. It should be able to dial out for you. first you have to access the modem through your internet browser and that # is usually 192.168.0.1 read your manual because oyu will probably need to have a sign in for hte router

Had something similar with a good friend... had a SBCGlobal DSL setup, worked fine on his PC, but wouldn't work with his Belkin wireless router he picked up (along with 2 USB 02.11b wireless NIC's for his kids).

Went through all the settings with him over the phone... spent a couple of hours with him and couldn't get him working. He tried Belkin's tech support, no help there... SBC couldn't get him working either...

Went over to his house. Looked at the computer, CAPS lock was on... needless to say he was a bit Embarassed 'ed about it.
