i tried upload some stuff via CLI ftp the other day, and all the images were corrupted once they were on the server. i tried connecting through Finder->Go->Connect to Server->ftp://www.littlewhitecat.com/ (is that just a front end for CLI ftp?) but my connection kept timing out.

has anyone else put stuff on littlewhitecat from their mac?

i'm running latest panther updates, etc, etc. i haven't tried a third party ftp client yet.

I vaguely recall having grief FTPing to my own web server whilst in Mac-land. I tried a 3rd party FTP program (forgot the name) and all was well. So maybe you should stop your search there.

this is very weird... every image in your directory is corrupt.

there should be no reason for it to be an FTP client/server issue. I noticed you attempted to CHMOD the directory after it was transfered. Try sending a file or two and try to view them before you do anything else.

pay attention to things like passive mode, and other modern FTP settings.
Macs leave forked files in general if they think they are working with a native file system. You might not be in binary mode either, although that is such a simple thing I doubt it.

If I can remember my LWC password I could test it out with my mac.

i've noticed its not just a problem with mac ftp. i transfered those images from a debian box, and i transfered some movies earlier with windows command line ftp client and they all ended up corrupt.

i was chmoding because the images weren't being shown, and i thought it might be a permissions issue, but then i realized they were corrupt Sad . i

guess i'll try a few more things.

i just used Captain FTP *AAARGGHHHH* and it transfered images fine. i got it at version tracker.

before that i tried FTP Thingy and got the same results as CLI ftp. i made sure i was transferring passive. this last time (which is on by default).

so to get the pictures of the debian box, i connected to it via ftp on my Mac and then used Captain FTP, which saw it as just another drive on the system. it took a while to route things from my school's server (the debian box) through my laptop to LWC, but it worked, and that's all i cared about.
