I've got 1 bad thing to say about apple.. Why on earth cant you buy PCI network cards off their site.

Yesterday i went to Microcenter, CompUSA, and the apple store trying to find a compatable PCI network card.. This really annoys me.. Finally after googling for a few hours this morning i found one..

I would think they would make them more available for people who want to do home routing or replace their broke ass nic's

At least yours isn't on-board and can't be replace ( Embarassed ) but the Airport wireless cards are the feature NIC interface of choice so those are easier to come by. Apple wants to push their wireless tech.

panther doesn't support the 3com chipsets or DEC chipsets that are supported by almost every operating system on the planet? i don't have an apple desktop so i guess i don't know how pci/agp card compatibility is, but that's pretty lame that they don't support cards that even skyos can handle

Yes but i ordered them because compatability reports said those specific cards work w/ no driver assistance needed on all their OS's
