Sorry to have to say this but "you really like to make work for yourself don't you" Ok, fair enough, you may not have spotted this on the SETI site (or you did but didn't get there as the link is wrong), but it's whole lot easier, and better, than your aritcle.
All you need is the SETI client just as you have written, and a copy of SETIService from Ted Dennisons site http://www.telepath.com/~dennison/Ted/SETI/SETI_Service.html and that's it. The site tells the rest.
The best things about this that a) it's simpler and automagically caters for multiple processors, b) it creates a true service (SRVANY is okay if you don't mind the total lack of control over the process you are running and the fact that if the program you run then falls over, the service continues to look like it's still running), c) more easily uninstalled, and d) then best bit, it creates a mini web server that allows you to monitor the progress of each unit on the system(though port 5518).
I have this running on 6 systems ranging from Win2k/WinXP workstations to Win2k servers (one is a dually too), and not a single issue all talking to SETI via SETIQueue on my main server (prefer this to SETIDriver as again it's a true service).
BTW. I did try telling SETI that the link is wrong, but they must have ignored me
Hope you find this alternative useful,
Regards,
Ferd (aka Taomyn) of SETI group "Brits in Lux" http://www.star-one.co.uk/pstats/pstats.php |

No shit, Sherlock.
I've been promoting Dennison's utility for some time now. I just haven't got round to re-writing the article to accommodate it. |

OK, i know this is old, but I have a question: why would I want to run Seti as a service? Does it run faster? |

It runs the command-line version, which is in general faster than the Graphic version. The key to running as a service is the fact that the whole thing is basically hidden from view, and can be remotely started and stopped from across the network. |
