I used to actually support MS when linux was getting big - you know, the whole "why spend the time to learn how to do it in linux when it already works in windows" philosophy. However, some of their new initiatives and press releases are pissing me off. I'm really starting to think that MS is screwing themselves over, implementing subscription licensing schemes (read renting software), product activation (and deactivation judging by all the complaints about Office XP), their "let our services hold all of your personal/private data" philosophy (haha, no way *ever* man), and mostly their anti open source philosophy (they say open source is "anti-american").
Does the american dream include renting proprietary software off a power hungry market dominating monopolostic company, which writes shotty software and integrates it all together so you really only have one choice, and who is against a movement where source code is openly provided so that more secure/robust software results? Sounds more like the american nightmare to me...I'm glad I don't live there.

I have just about made the migration to Staroffice. I use it for everything except email and surfing so far. It never accuses me of stealing anything.
