Within the last couple of weeks, have had two drives suddenly develop the bad block syndrome, first was the boot drive on my server (Maxtor D540X), which Maxtor was kind enough to replace with a larger Diamond Max 16 drive (and got an extra 20GB to boot Very Happy )

Now my kid's 80GB Seagate Barracuda ATA IV drive is dying... what's the story on Seagate's RMA process? I've had good luck with Maxtor, this would be the first time for me with Seagate.

(these are all drives that used to be running on my SETI boxen, if that is relevant)

Thanks for the link, SeaTools confirmed that I'm screwed...

http://www.seagate.com/support/service/warranty.html

The drive has/had a one year warranty, and that period passed a couple of months back...

At least Maxtor made good on the D540X 60 gig that died...
