Got me curious about this desk now. Is it a work in progress?

For some time now...its fairly easy to make...and its of a design that I wanted with enough space for everything.

the basics of it are 2 kitchen counter tops with 2 cabinets on either end to support the counter tops. This part is complete.

The work in progress is the frame you see around the rack. When I have the time I want to put a 1/4 sheet of plywood on top and either paint it of a color of my choosing, or put laminate that matches the counter top on every edge of visible wood. Since I am now back to a regular work schedule and have weekends off, I may just make it a weekend project 2 weeks from now (Next weekend its Halloween Horror Nights at Universal)

I'll snap some pics tommorow and post them, if you want more details just let me know and ill give them to ya.

I know this is a bit old, and maybe you've done something about it but I'll add a few bits if I may.
A common 2x4 added to the bottom of the counters should help some with that bowing. Probably best in the back so its not in the way of your legs. I don't know how sturdily its attached to that cabinet there either. A board diagonally back from the front corner of the server cabinet to the back wall would help as well (from the front left cornter where it meets that support to the back middle) and attach it to the previously mentioned 2x4. That might stiffen things up a bit and allow you to add the flat screen you want as a 2nd monitor in the middle Very Happy

Well, I had my box at my office yesterday, and decided to take some pictures. It's getting to be an old box, and I'm still working on it, but here are the specs:
CoolerMaster ATC 110 case with 4 80 mm fans
Intel D845BG motherboard with 400Mhz FSB
Intel P4 1.7 Ghz processor
512 MB DDR PC2100 RAM
40 GB 7200 RPM Maxtor Hard Drive
Silver round IDE cables
Nvidia Gforce 2
Creative DVD
TDK CDRW

I painted the floppy to match the case, I just havn't had time to do the CD and DVD

This picture didn't turn out very well, but I replaced the green leds in my keyboard with blue ones.

I really need to clean up the wires, I just don't have the motivation right now.

It worked earlier... It's a silver looking box. With a few dotted holes in the case, he could turn it into a G5 Mac looking case... Big Smile

Word of warning: I made a computer out of a cereal box once, which caught on fire.

dont have pics yet... hopefully will have them soon. (as soon as I can borrow a camera)

but I just now ("just now," as in just hooked mahine back up, booted up, and came to the forums) got done with a new mod.

I bought a 6' piece of stainless steel shower hose. I took the ends off of it, and removed the rubber ose from the inside of it. I then cut it into several smaller pieces and the ran the wiring from my power-supply through it. Now, wiring is neat and clean... and shiney! Very Happy

I did the same sort of thing, but I used this black tubing that you can find at an auto supplies retailer. Looks good either way. My only thing is, having such a large powersupply leaves for a lot of extra power cords, and I don't really know what to do with them all...so I've just kinda shoved them in under my cd / dvd rom's...I always see pictures of people's fancy cases and I'm curious as to what they do with all their power cables, but I think in some, they've actually removed the PSU from the picture...

I tucked all my extra cords behind the metal panel that you mount the mobo on, so they're all wedged out of sight between the case cover and that panel. I remember I did it because read an article somewhere about increasing the airflow inside a case.

yeah, I was using the black plastic stuff that you are talking about until yesterday, and I decided that I wanted something that looks better (in my opinion) since I am fixing to put a window and lights in the case.

all the extra cables that I do not need (the ones with the connectors made spcially for a P4... since I run an AMD) got put into one piece of the stainless steel hose and tucked behind the drives.

I have been playing with some different lighting schemes in the case, and I have to say, with all that stainless steel reflecting light, it looks pretty damn cool.
