HI to all that are having problems with win2k.
The first think to remember is that the event viewer is a very good tool to figure out whats happening to a system.
right click on My Computer > manager > Event viewer.
From there any warning, error, or system info can be seen. A good resource then to figure out the correct method to repair is www.eventid.net
If the system starts to write a dump of an error let it, then look at the drwtsn32.log located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson
If you just installed a program or up dated some software look at the install.log to make sure that there werent any errors

Might be the: "ATi are absolutely forbidden from making good 2000 drivers" (touch wood I haven't suffered a crash recently but I have been avoiding anything 3D)
Braxxus, we need more info on what your computer is otherwise we're all guessing like mad when there are about a million things that might cause your problem.

I had the same problem of win 2k locking up on me. I found two things that helped me out alot. I added better case fans to make sure my case was not over heating. And i changed Dram clock to 100MHz from 133MHz .I was using a Soyo Dragon+ mobo and the Dram change was what the company recommended and it seems to have worked. |
