Well my friend came over and asked to check his processor out on my working board...first I was skeptical but I knew he builds PC's so I said how long? He said 5 mins. I said ok. well after he realized his was different he put mine back in and now I cannot boot. The only thing he did was take it out and put it back (processor), Now I have been reading and it says ou must put grease upon reinstalling. Can you help me out here? I have win 98 and the processor is athlon 1800+ Is it time for judge Judy? What a I am doing now is taking it back out and looking at it to make sure no pins are bent or such...I have a volcano 5 heat sink and fan. |

anthlon heat sinks must go on in 1 direction. if he put it opn backwards it will cause the cpu to fail. (ive done it before and you can get away with the reverse mounting for a little while but dont leave the cpu on for longer or you just bought a new one. second the cpu will get very hot very quickly and that will cause the mobo and POST To fail. again experience. make sure than heat sink is correctly installed and i bet it fixes the problem |

Would that be wheel bearing grease, axle grease or differential grease? |

Beats me. deaski said that it said to apply grease upon reinstalling. |
