An SLK-700 with a 70mm TMD fan provides an excellent noise vs. performance ratio, while still being fairly cheap. I have this particular setup in my HTPC. An SLK-800 with a Thermaltake Smart Fan 2 gives you great performance at high speed but a smidge noisy, at low rpms it's very quiet and still cools very well, this is the more expensive option, but also the most flexible depending on the environment your computer is in. I have this setup in my server and a similar one in my gaming rig, substitute fan from CoolerMaster HAC-V81 heatsink.

Thanks for the recommendation! Don't know why I didn't remember your post, Smokin, seeing as I posted in that thread too Embarassed. And thanks for the link JAE, I probably wouldn't have even remembered that thread (even though I do prowl the Hot Deals & Free Stuff regularly) until I already spent a heap of more money.Big Smile Any recommendations for case fans?

Panaflo or Papst make excellent quiet case fans. I also like the variable-speed Y.S. Tech fan. The rheostat knob lets you choose exactly the right balance between noise and cooling.

I have the coolermaster aero 7+ if you want stuff cool, try that out. It lowered my temps an extreme amout, and only costs about 45 canadian. Check out the reviews. The one that I found that was a bit better was the volcano 11.

I've moved my case so it isn't blowing hot air into a corner anymore, and I took the time to take the fan off of my heatsink and clean the dust out (I didn't realize how quickly the dust would build up; I need to look into filters). Now my CPU has dropped from its old range of 65-75 C to hovering at the mid-50's. Haven't noticed much of a change in performance, though, although it is nice to not have alarms going off anymore.
