I built a computer with nastah parts in it, thermaltake volcano 12, geforce 4 128mb ddr agp8x, 160gb hdd, and forgot the motherboard name. But I got the amd 3000+ barton core. But When I boot it up it only identifys it as a amd xp 1300+. I checked the jumpers for the fsb 333 and it was already set to it. Think It could be a fault with newegg sending a 1300+ or just some problems with the computer?

make sure it's running the most recent bios for the board. some boards don't recognize the new chips till they've been flashed.

Unless you got it straight from the assembly line I doubt it.

EDIT - I actually have no clue if mobos are made on assembly lines; but you get the idea.

Can you set the jumper to automatically detect for the fsb?
Can you change the fsb settings in the bios?

Our 2500+ booted up at 1100+ with the default BIOS settings - sounds to me like all you have to do is adjust some settings in there - wWink SmileWink Smilef!

agreed that is the second most important thing to check when building a pc. the bios. the firxt of course is to make sure you plugged everything in before you start the pc

Im on the pc now. I have a

AMD Athlon XP™ 3000+ "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- OEM
Specifications:
With Quantispeed Architecture*
CPU: 2.16 GHz
Type: XP 3000 Barton Core
Cache: 512K L2, 128K L1, Total 640KB
BUS: 333MHz
Socket A
* An AMD Athlon XP processor 3000+ with Quantispeed architecture operates at 2.16 GHz
OEM (Processor Only)

Know what I should set some bios settings to? Because I never work with bios. I tried a few things and I got it to identify at a 2200+ but then I went in and changed a few more things and it went back to a 1300+, but when I save and exit from the bios, it reboots and doesnt post. Any Suggestions?

Look in the bios for (I think) an "Advanced" settings section. In there, look for the bus speed (or something like that). For your processor it should be set to 166MHz (which doubles to get the 333MHz bus speed you're expecting). If it only says 100MHz, change it to 166.

Hope this helps!

Heh, yes, exactly... Smile

Just be careful, overclocking often leads to unstability, sometimes even hardware failures (I hear that data loss isn't out of the question).

So be careful.
