Has anybody experienced any issues with mozilla or firebird to you goto insert some text and it locks up on you? Pretty much anything dealing with the keyboard.

Is there a patch/fix or any workarounds to this issue that anybody may know of? I really dislike opera and woud love to get firebird working again.

Firebird has always given me problems. Much of the UI doesn't seem to respond to commands. Bookmark system seems incomplete. My solution: stick with Mozilla. Is all I can do for now.

mozilla does the same thing.. and mozilla takes double the time to compile than firebird does.. even when excluding the usless junk they add in.

i've tried using binary packages and the same thing happens.. I'm currently installing the linux port of firebird to see if that one is better.. also limiting my O flags.. and reading around it seems to be an issue w/ gekko based browsers.. galeon seems to do this too.. it might be my WM but i doubt it since it's based off GTK2..

Mozilla worked fine for me in FreeBSD 5.0 *shruggs* It's about the only gecko-based browser I feel doesn't have usability issues.

Have you tried Epiphany? I think that's the one that's becoming the default browser in Gnome (replacing Galeon). From my experience it has similar short comings as Firebird but at least it doesn't crash.

What version you runnin' slick? Firebird is my weapon of choice and 0.7.0 just came out...

I've had issues with Mozilla locking up when trying to put text in the addy bar, but... Not Firebird for a while now.

linux-mozilla-firebird port seems to work w/ no issues.. Woot!.. now i can pkg_delete opera

thanks for the help guys..

oh yea it struck my mind that the O flags would make no diffrence because it did the same w/ a binary package.. so no compiling was required..
