Hi all,

I have MBM 5 prog (uninstalled) & new system: P3, 1000Mhz, 256 SDRAM, Intel Mobo D815EEA & Intel Chipset 815E.
I also would like to be confident that I knew the real operating temp of key compoments.
My question is where does this info originate & how is that transmitted as an input to a software prog capable of advising accurately.
Have noted earlier posts suggesting confirming temp readings should be obtained using other progs, when & why is this necessary.
Also why no mention in my Mobo spec of any thermal signal outputs which surely one might expect given the obvious general interest.
I feel I have missed something pretty obvious here, anyone care to help with an explanation?

I believe this relates only to older AMD processors ... INTEL processors have always included a thermal diode on their chips ... the new AMD chips (Athlon 4 / Athlon MP) include temperature diode on chip ... older AMD chips get the temperature reading from a thermal diode placed in the socket underneath the chip ... this is not nearly as accurate as having the diode in the chip ...
