help me pls configuring the MDK80 with my video, TNT
creativelabs sdram-agp on
motherboard pcchips m726, (ALI1621) 160mb ram, samsung hd w/
14.7gb hd, creativelabs soundblaster live512, pentium2-333mhz. was working excellent with
mdk72. i do all steps, like fresh
install on mkd80 (no problem with install) used the ReiserFS or EXT2 (tried both in separate way), choose xfree4.0.3 tested
ok (test with xdpyinfo who report is 4.0.3), installed
the NVIDIA driver TAR 1251 (lastest)
from nvidia.com
then, changed the xfconfig-4 as usual
(glx and nvidia changes) save it but
the screen freeze when:
"startx". i check the logs and
sometimes
it gets with trash characters,.
check the lsmod for nvdriver and when i
restart the driver doesn`t load
automatic, but i can load manual, no errors
reported then. start the x, and
freeze again.

i had the mkd72 installed just perfect,
all the hardware working ok (q3, q2, SOF, etc) even
the nvidia with driver version 0.9.7. on the disk is win98 working
with no problem but i don`t want
that. i like the mdk80. also, have an
cdrom, cdrw-1622 from memorex, these
are ok.
any help will be hot

You could set your AGP to 2x in your bios, but seeing that you have a ALI i don't think it will make it work

tha´s true, the motherboard ONLY support AGP 1.0, i have to Upgrade the TNT Bios w/ the one provided from CREATIVE Labs to disable sideband support. this is working just fine, i can run games in opengl in windows and MDK7.2

the only thing is if that is the problem, then that´s the reason is not working with MDK80. I´m ready to re-install and work with MDK72 if there is not solution.

sorry for my english, hope you understand
and thanks!

Did you try the NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-1251.mdk80up.i386.rpm?

it may sound live mission impossible or aliens but, Yes, i tried the ones with mdk80 in nvidia.com with same result. when i type: startx it appear to run: see the xfree logs to run, came a black screen and nothing for 5 minutes. try the ctrl+alt+f1 = nada, nothing. try caps, numlock=nada, cero.

it appear also the graphics mode is up, but nothings happens and the light of activity of the HD stops.

I going to try the

NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-1251.src.rpm
maybe those work. but that is going to happen at night, so, if you have another idea, is welcome.
thanks again!

sorry folks, i tried even the kernel rebuild RPM= no work, the TAR=nothing, the mdk80 uniprocesor=nada, so i´m goint to get back to mdk72, because i think the problem is the xfree4.0.3 or the kernel 2.4.3
thanks!
