Some cool and unusual cases there. And that file server was on like H a couple of weeks ago. I think it was something like ~2 terabites.

I just helped build a 500 BG server, and it didn't take up nearly that many drives...

You can do it in 2 or 4 drives now.

Seeing as there are 250gb and 300gb drives available now.

You could slap in 2 of those on the normal IDE channel and not worry about performance or reliability, or you could Stripe them and get some speed out of them, or you could do what I would do and do a RAID 0+1 Mirror with 4 drives so you would not only have reliability but added performance.

I have a nice little RAID 0+1 Array on my server using 4 120gb drives.

22 Total, something makes me believe that there is at least 1 raid 5 array in that puppy.

I'd hate to have to cart any of them to a LAN party, though it would look cool rockin' up with that coffin in a hearse Smile
