My parents PC has a PCI wireless adapter and it works fine, great signal and everything, but ever since I ran windows update recently, the connection no longer automagically connects when the PC is turned on. You have to click on the icon in the system tray and then hit connect. And even then it won't keep a connection for more than 20 minutes.

It's fairly annoying, especially when I have to deal with the parents yelling "The internet isn't working!", even though I've told them no less than a dozen times how to reconnect.

So for my sanity and the sake of parents, anyone know how to fix this? Short of buying a wired to wireless bridge.

OS is XP Pro.

I think it's related to one of the recent windows updates. That's basically the same problem that I'm experiencing with my linksys hardware. At least you're able to connect for 20 mins. My parents hardware won't connect at all.

You may have already tried this. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and that cleared it up.

What brand of card is it?

Linksys, I've tried reinstalling the drivers, I tried new drivers, I tried old drivers. Nothing. I'm seriously beginning to wonder if the new patch completely screwed up wireless connectivity.
