|
this is a very minor mod, but i thought i'd share.
its a headphone jack from frontx.com (worst shipping program i've ever used btw) when i plug in the headphones it cuts out the speakers, and its right up front.. perfect for lans!
i used the 'custom' method of modding it, i drilled a hole in my floppy drive blocker? (if thats what its called, heh) and then attached the headphone jack, then wired it to the back of the box.
it works out rather good, i've been enjoying it.. |

i'm afraid i dont want to hear your software story (winxp user) i got my stuff from frontx.com.. the shipping program was lame (no tracking number, it took forever, and they shipped it via postal mail) but i did eventually get the product, and it did work. so i guess i can stop complaining. |

Well this is my friends case, i helped him pick it out and I lent him my motherboard (thanks omnifarious! for the free mobo)Its pretty cool. Notice we are just using the motherboard to test fans and lighting. Theres no cards or processor in the case. We have 1 thermaltake fan in it and 4 other fans in it with red and blue neon led lights, fan control with 4 fan controls. On the front it has a color changing light. I cant seem to get the Dual Blue Pillers to work Anyways, heres some pics. And we got a 128mb geforce 4 vid card for $61.

Here is a pic of my current setup....nothing has been modded, but maybe soon...
From Top to bottom, left to right
Westell 2100 Dual NAT DSL Modem
Linksys Wireless router and 4 port switch
3Com Superstack hub
HP DeskJet 845C
Empty Shelve for Printing products
Secondary Server
My Computer
APC 1400V batteryback up
Heather's (CompChick - G/f) Computer
Primary Server
Note: The wood frame around the rack is to support a homebuilt desk. If you want details on the rigs or desk just let me know.
[Edit]
Here are the additional pics I promised...from left to right with both pics including the rack as a reference point.
Note: The rack is in the corner of the room in the event that you missed that, with Heathers Monitor and setup on the left (East) wall of the room, and my monitor and setup on the right (North) wall of the room.
Note: For those interested in this setup...note the "Bow" in the last picture...you can do 1 of 2 things to prevent this in your application.
A: Support a larger area of the counter top by either adding in l brackets that mount to the wall, or by getting a bigger cabinet, such as the desk on the left.
B: Use a lighter monitor...the 1 you see here is a 19" monitor and weighs about 50 pounds. a flat panel monitor would be excellent in this type of situation.

For some time now...its fairly easy to make...and its of a design that I wanted with enough space for everything.
the basics of it are 2 kitchen counter tops with 2 cabinets on either end to support the counter tops. This part is complete.
The work in progress is the frame you see around the rack. When I have the time I want to put a 1/4 sheet of plywood on top and either paint it of a color of my choosing, or put laminate that matches the counter top on every edge of visible wood. Since I am now back to a regular work schedule and have weekends off, I may just make it a weekend project 2 weeks from now (Next weekend its Halloween Horror Nights at Universal)
I'll snap some pics tommorow and post them, if you want more details just let me know and ill give them to ya. |

Evil's workstation is pretty sweet. It's given me some ideas on how I want mine to turn out one of these days. But as of right now my desk fits my needs very well and dosen't take up too much space in my room, which is a good thing considering how cramped it is right now.
That is very nice (Scarecrow has one of those chairs) - no room for that here either (well, maybe upstairs, but I'm in the living room) - w f! |
