I enjoyed the article. Thanks for a good read. But....
I never could adjust to those "3D" glasses. Probably because my left eye doesn't work as well as the other one.
Rocket up the asshole, I mean tail pipe. Sounds painfull... Oh! It's a vid game...

Thanks Spot ... I will keep that FPS loss in mind should I decide to waste my money on this product ... [ ]

What a cool idea. Beats putting two monitors on my G400 and crossing my eyes...
It's a shame it didn't quite live up to your hopes, because it really is a fantastic concept.

I have the 3d Revelator that came with my elsa geforce 2 ultra. It as similar concept but in my view more cleaverly done. with only a 20% drop in frame rates, which is cool. |

I've never posted here before but I wanted to ask a question about the eyescream thingies... I've never owned an nvidia vid card, so I'm wondering whether they come with a gamma correction or brightness control for opengl? If so couldn't you just raise it when using the glasses? Would that have fixed the brightness problem? Or was it not really a brightness problem and more of a washed out color problem?
Thanks,
Jake |

Jake - you can change the gamma in the display properties, but it does not effect the display inside of quake for instance. You CAN however jack the brightness up in the game (under display settings) and it's not quite as bad.
The color is very washed out too. It's very "colorless" for lack of a better term. Lot's of shades of grey.

Rover stopped by my house yesterday (Sunday) and gave the glasses a whirl too. He couldn't see the 3D at all for the first couple of times playing, but the first time he saw it - he said "Holy shit! That is f***in' cool". He kept "losing" the 3D and I told him that's where the training period came in..
But he pretty much came to the same conclusion as the article. He thought it looked cool, but the frame hit was too much, it was too dark.... and he didn't think he would use it too long.
