My boss handed me a set of 5.25 floppies, and a 486/66 with a 5.25 drive. He wants me to figure out what is on the disks. I copied the files over to a 3.5 floppy, and checked em' out in win98. Here's what I have:
Bottom.p
Bottem.rec
Bottom.t
Bottom.wtp
Top.rec
There were also a couple of text files. Now my question is, what kind of files are these?? Does anyone recognize those extensions. I can't open them in notepad, so what can I use to look at these files?? Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers.

You can try a hex editor, but they look as if they might be source code for some language maybe fortran or cobol judging from the age of the PC. Maybe Pascal or Turbo Pascal. Hard to say since I'm not familiar with any of the above languages.

I managed to get the two .rec files open in word. The other files all open in word, it is just gibberish. The odd bit actually makes sense. The files are from late 90 to early 91(What were you doing ten years ago??). They are Geological Well Information for a well that was owned by Amoco at the time. My fear is that they were created by some in house software that Amoco had created. Anywho, the important data was in the two .rec files, but it would be nice to see what the others contain. Cheers.
