How to assamble a computer:
http://www.learnthat.com/courses/computer/buildpc/assemble.shtml

also: Slide - by slide pics...
http://home.cvc.org/howto/puttogether/sld001.htm

or: great deal of detail... you will probably have parts similar to what this guys has, although not exactly the same...

Just be careful. avoid static by using an anti-static wristband (~$5).
If your mate has built a PC get him to give you a hand, he might know what he is doing, if he doesn't, then find someone who does and bribe him with beer/friendship. Big Smile

The best advice that I can give to a beginner is to be careful, and check everything twice.

Good Luck. Big Smile

Only reason I use a Desktop is because it enables me to easily open multple windows AND SEE THEM BOTH

sure, I could use SCREEN, but I like looking at more than one window while typing in another... the rest of the graphical crap I could do without

And a hansome motherboard it is too, mine lasted me nearly four months, now that's what I call value... [/sarcasm]

No, honestly, it only died cos' I accidentally dragged a screwdriver across a few tracks on the PCB. It was a good board... *sniff* happy memories...
