I have installed an external CD-Burner using a USB 2.0 connection. The burner works great. However, after reboot or about 10 minutes, I go to My Computer and the drive is no longer present. If I turn the power switch on the back of the device off and on again, the drive is once again recognized. Then after the same period of time or reboot, it disappears again. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the problem may be. I have checked my connections to see if they are tight. I have checked the BIOS and all USB devices are enabled. I do no know why this is happening.

Like smokin said, It sounds like some kind of power saving feature.

ok, Fantom's website says that if you are running windows 2000 you need a driver update.

http://www.fantomdrives.com/support/swupdates/usb.php4

looks like a new XP driver as well. Nothing specific in the FAQs though. But if they are out with a new driver one can infer that there were issues with USB 2.0.

dunno if this helps
