|
I am running into a problem at the point that I click on "check name" while trying to set up Exchange Server within Outlook 2000 on a particular workstation. After clicking on "check name" I get an hourglass and it stays that way or "hangs." I saw in a few MS articles that this usually results from the RPC Locator Service being set on Automatic instead of Manual. My workstation was set on Manual, as it should be by default. Does anyone have any ideas? This workstation is also on a different network than the the server (Exchange Server 5.5). Thanks in advance. |

need more details:
from a command line, can you ping the exchange server by name?
You mention different network segment. Is there a firewall or anything between your workstation and the exchange server?
Is this all Windows 2000 networking, or is the W2k and NT4 mixed? I'm trying to establish what kind of NBNS is being used.
on the exchange server, do you see any events in the application log that correspond to the connection being made by your workstation? |
