Help guys! I loaded mandrake 8 on to my system, and have had to send my plexwriter 161040A back! coz it cant read CDs. Is this just sods law swinging my way, or is there a bug in mandrake? any help plz!!

How do you know it can't read CDs? Did it say sorry, CD is not readable or did it say cannot find CD-Rom? Is that an IDE CD-RW? or a SCSI? Where did you send it back to? I hope not the manufacturer, not without trying to get it working!?

The red light on the front just flashes! I have tried upgradeing the firmware, and reloaded system. Got tech support from plextor and they said the laser has died.

I don't think Mandrake broke your CD-RW...IMHO
