I'm looking at making the two machines in my bedroom quieter, because right now I can barely stand them.

I was looking at buying two Thermalright SLK-800's to replace the Volcano 9's currently installed. And also buying new fans to replace all the fans in those two machines (heatsink fans and case fans). There is a total of nine fans (an assortment of Antecs, Thermaltakes, Sunons and whatever comes with the Lian-Li PC-60).

For the fans I'm hesitating between the Panaflo 80mm L1A (24cfm@21dba) and the Papst 80mm 8412NGL (19.4cfm@12dba). What I'm asking myself is if the extra 5 cfm of the Panaflo going to make much of a difference and if the extra 9 dba going to make the Panaflo noticably louder. Up to what CPU can I cool decently with the Panaflo or the Papst and at what point do I need to get a stronger fan on the heatsink? Also is the Papst worth twice the price of the Panaflo?

I like your choices - I do know Papst fans are good (don't know if they're that much better though) - wBig SmileBig Smilef!!!

Well if they let me sleep at night with the machines running I think they're worth the investment :)

I'm just asking myself if 9 L1As running close to my bed is going to be quiet enough or not... because I'd rather spend the difference between the L1As and the 8412NGLs on something else if I can.
