|
I'm looking to upgrade the HSFs on my workstation (AM266-D)
I'm looking for something that does a good job cooling but has a footprint that is little or no bigger that the stock AMD HSF. The Asus AM266-D has capacitors close enough to the ZIF sockets to rule out larger HSFs like the Volcano 7-11. The HSF will need to be able to adequately cool MP 2600+ CPUs
Any ideas? |

AMD officially requires motherboard makers to leave room for a 60x80mm heatsink. There are many heatsinks available that do not violate AMD's design guideline, but usually there is actually room on the motherboard for even larger designs. Is there any chance that the Thermalright SLK-800 or SLK-700 will fit? They are narrow at the bottom, but wide at the top.
Look for lots of fin/pin area and solid copper construction, topped by an insanely-fast fan if you are looking for the best possible performance.
